I found Mark George Conservatories online whilst hunting a company who would fix a leaking roof in my timber conservatory.
They are a small family business with vast experience in all kinds of conservatory construction and repair.
My first engagement with Leslie on the telephone gave me confidence that I had found an organisation that understood my problem. A site inspection by Mark only confirmed my opinion that I had found a company with the knowledge, experience and appetite to help. Mark advised on the best course of action, provided a quote, explained what I should expect and answered the questions I had, and we agreed a date when the work would commence.
Throughout the repair process Mark, James and Leslie were nothing but professional, friendly, and efficient.
All work was carried out exactly as promised, on time, efficiently, and professionally. The end product after a week’s work is a conservatory which is water tight, structurally sound, and more attractive than what went before. Both the conservatory and the site were meticulously cleaned and tidied after the job was finished.

We had a leaking roof that the original conservatory company had patched up several times with no lasting success (until they ceased trading). Mark George visited, he convincingly explained and demonstrated the build/design failings of the original roof; a new roof was required. The rebuild took place this summer. It was carried out by a clearly skilful and committed team. They were tidy and courteous. The final result is fantastic. It looks better than the original roof ever did. During recent heavy rain it was quite clear that the new design was going to keep us dry inside.

We are really happy with the new roof, which goes a long way to restoring our conservatory back to its former glory of c.25 years ago.  We think we’ll use this space much more now, both in summer and winter, and already notice the improvement in terms of temperature control.

Our first contact with Mark George Conservatories was with Leslie, it didn’t take long to realise that she is the ‘control centre’ of the company, she’s efficient, knowledgeable, quick to respond to any questions and always has a very approachable manner.

Mark impressed us straight away with his extensive knowledge of conservatories and his no nonsense approach. Working alongside him was Charlotte, they’re a dynamic team and communication with them both was easy.

We were also impressed that Mark removed panels (3 sizes) of the conservatory double glazing to make exact measurements for the replacements to ensure a precise fit in the hardwood framing before proceeding further.

Mark ensures he only works on one job at a time. Each morning they arrived in a spotlessly clean van which was impressively organised with tools, materials etc. The standard of workmanship was second to none, they both worked exceptionally hard and always with a smile, Mark has an infectious sense of humour. At the end of each working day everything was left tidily.

We’re very happy with the work.

Our 10 year old Amdega timber conservatory had started leaking during heavy rain. After a long and frustrating search, Mark George was the only person who understood the cause of the problem and was able to devise a solution.

From the very first site visit and subsequent surveys we gained increasing confidence in Mark’s solution.

Mark, Charlotte and Sam, did a great job replacing the roof of our 25-year-old conservatory. It had been leaking badly from a poorly designed and built valley gutter, which Mark ingeniously reconfigured, as well as changing the glazing design to improve drainage and eliminate draughts. They started the job as planned and finished the job on time despite some unexpected issues. We would strongly recommend them, one of the best contractors we have ever had.

Mark and team returned and once again did such an incredibly professional job.  The quality of workmanship is of such a high standard. Mark and team have such a high bar and the end result is something that will last for many years.  I have to also say that it’s a joy to have them all around.  Their banter and chat is delightful.  Sincerely couldn’t recommend enough.   You might find something cheaper sure but the quality of workmanship and dedication for perfection you won’t find anywhere else.  We couldn’t quite afford to do the job in one go so did the roof and they returned to do the rest 18 -20 months later.  There were no short cuts eg Mark replaced some of the guttering that was originally done as he wasn’t  happy with it …. what more can you ask for ?  We now have a wonderful space that we can enjoy for years to come.   Thank you.

Mark’s glass is a huge success and this hot weather has certainly proved that it works for keeping the temperature degrees cooler than it previously would have been.

Have also coped with another heavy thunderstorm, no leaks. We had 22mms of rain in 2 hours yesterday, so it looks like a success.

Mark George Conservatories’ renovation of our 1993 large hardwood conservatory exceeded our expectations. Complicated repairs and improvements were made to the wood structure, particularly for the valley gutter, and to the window frames. Three existing vents were replaced with a single large vent of a better design. All windows were renewed with new glazing to current standards. Mark’s advice was excellent through out. The project execution was slickly carried out and it was a pleasure to have Mark, James and Charlotte working so well together under Leslie’s control….

 

I had one beam in my 6x4m conservatory which had rotted over a ten year period which I tried hard for some time to find someone competent to replace. Estimates received were often ridiculous. Luckily I came across Mark George Conservatories – an internet find. They attended for an estimate and it was obvious from the start that they knew their job! I decided, as well as the beam replacement, to replace the two old vents with new, less vulnerable ones, and to change the aluminium glass joins with new properly capped ones. Their estimate, whilst not low, seemed fair. A date for the installation was given and, indeed, adhered to bar one day.

The team for the repair was very pleasant to deal with, kept to their responsibilities regarding Covid-19 distancing etc., and set about the work immediately. Finished on time, the final job was top-class and included cleaning up after. I would heartily recommend Mark George Conservatories for first class work.

We were initially concerned that we would get a refurbished structure that would be too modern for the house, but in fact the conservatory you have built is a brilliant combination of ancient and modern, sitting well with a late-Victorian detached house but sufficiently updated in its materials and construction to be used as a garden room all year round. We’re absolutely delighted with the conservatory. We struggled for years, not knowing what to do with a large conservatory – that was in exactly the right place and with a very expensive terracotta floor – but sadly also with a leaking roof and deteriorating timbers. You managed to retain the foundations and lovely floor but replace and improve everything else. It now looks like you started from scratch.
Mark, James and Charlotte are very skilled craftspeople; and it was lovely to have them around. We really liked the way they checked details with us – or explained choices – but then got on and worked at speed. With your efficient project management Leslie, you make a great team.

I wanted to tell you, Mark and Charlotte that since they installed our replacement conservatory our electricity consumption has dropped by 20% year on year, and likewise gas by 27%.  Thermal efficiency!

After weeks attempting to find an expert to replace our conservatory roof, it was a relief to find a company that had the skill and craftsmanship we were looking for.  Mark came back promptly with a quotation and displayed great knowledge in his evaluation of our problem and what needed to be done.

All the glass roof panel seals had failed, the cover strips between the roof sections had deteriorated, and then the final straw was a leak through the lead roof, so we sought advice from several companies, including Mark George Conservatories.

Mark responded very quickly and, after a thorough inspection and detailed quotation, we agreed to have all of the glass roof panels replaced to a higher specification, bespoke vents fitted, and aluminium cover strips fitted over the roof section joints. The lead roof was also repaired. Throughout the whole time Mark kept us fully informed, was always on time, and with Liam and Charlotte carried out the work in a very professional manner. Great care was taken to protect the property. We were delighted with the end result and would recommend this company without reservation.

Our conservatory roof passed its first test following the heavy rain on Thursday night! We are very pleased with the refurbishment and it was a pleasure to work with Mark and Liam.

I thought Liam did a wonderful job fitting the new lead on the roof and it looks excellent. After 26 years I felt the conservatory needed some major maintenance and updating and I am delighted with the result. I appreciated all the advice you gave me and the information about new products available. The anti-glare glass on the roof is a great improvement. I am confident that the quality of your work will mean that I shall now be able to enjoy the conservatory for many years into the future. I am sure I shall feel the full benefit of the new double glazing in the winter, but in the meantime I hope I shall enjoy sitting in the conservatory this summer with friends, having lunch looking over the garden, or using it as a studio when doing my watercolour paintings. I should also like to thank Leslie for being so efficient about everything.

At last we have had enough foul weather (wind and rain) to thoroughly test our repaired conservatory, and we are happy to say there have been no leaks! The new lead flashing is beginning to weather to a lighter grey, and the new glass roof is looking really smart. We are very pleased with the work carried out by Mark and Liam, and we will recommend you to anyone who wants similar work carried out.

It is really great when you find someone who actually does the job they promise to do. We have a wooden conservatory which needed alot of work including all the roof rafters replaced and new windows fitted. Mark George and his team have done a wonderful job re-roofing and double-glazing our conservatory and have transformed a very cold room into a warm and welcoming space. We are loving the roof – the difference in warmth is amazing. I was sceptical about that aspect of it at first but wow, what a difference!

I am writing to thank you for the truly excellent work you have just completed in replacing the roof of the conservatory here. We have nothing but praise for the quality of the finished timberwork and glazing, and for the splendid way in which the boys carried out their work over a period of five days and left us at the end of it with an immaculate site. We had an inch of rain today but needless to say the conservatory has behaved perfectly and kept every last drop outside.

First off, having seen the mess and the appalling state that the roof was in, I was quite frankly astonished by how good it looked when they had finished. I was also most impressed by how careful they were to minimise the mess as they were working and the very clean environment they left behind. Although any form of enforced maintenance to one’s property is hardly something one takes pleasure in, I have to say I am delighted with the work that you did for me. Moreover, I would not hesitate to recommend your services to anybody that needed similar work done. Thanks again.

Now that you have finished the work, on time, with such skill and professionalism, this part of our house looks like new. It was a pleasure to have you installing the new roof and vents. Sunday 19th March actually gave us a chance to open the new vents and reduce the midday temperature of 29° C down to a pleasant 20° C – so not only will the room be warmer when needed but also the temperature will be much more controllable when necessary.
